I rescued a female Burm recently.  At four years old she was only 7 feet long, due to extremely poor cage hygiene and only monthly feedings, even as a juvenile.  After a check up she seems healthy and just in need of care and food.  Now after two feedings she has become INCREDIBLY aggressive in her cage.  She has bit me when taking her out and strikes the glass at my 3 year old.  After removing her with a hook she is workable, but not trustworthy.  I've owned snakes for years, but this is my first rescue.  What is a good way to get her over the aggression.  I have an old shirt in with her now.

The old shirt is a great idea , the surroundings are new and it sounds like it is a good bet the snake was not handled very often by the previous owners.
Time , patients and regular handling should tame her down.
The behavior may be the result of poor and irregular feeding habits from the previous owner and regular feedings will also help.

It is a great you have rescued this snake ! !  Please keep us posted on the progress

I have been handling her daily, I have progressed from using a hook to heavy rubber gloves to get her out.  I lowered her temperature about 5 degrees to see if that would help with her disposition.  She has become more tractable when she is out, crossing to the more curious behavior.  I am hoping that the handling and regular feeding will help.  She is entering a shed right now, it will be the first since I got her.

Thats fantastic news !  I am not sure of Temperature in relationship to temperament however I have experienced to little humidity being a cause for evasive or aggressive behavior .

There is still a lot of work to be done with her.  We're hopeful that she will calm down to be a decent pet.  There seems definite potential.  Some positive Bad Boy news, our female albino palpates gravid.....by a tiger retic!!
